Tulelake Elementary School Cafeteria Remodel
Ore-Cal RC&D proposes to assist with the grant research. application, and administration for this project.
The only cooking kitchen for the district is located at the Tulelake Basin Elementary School site. All of the food, breakfast and lunch, for all sites is cooked here and distributed to each school. This kitchen also supplies meals during a summer migrant food program for all youth under 18 years of age.This school was modernized in 1992, but because of the cost of remodeling the kitchen very little was done to this area. A venting hood above the cook stoves was installed and a drain in the dishwashing area was constructed. Since that time the school has continually battled non compliance issues with each yearly inspection. Presently seamless stainless steel counters, a small office area for book work, a mop room, hand washing sinks, a new cold storage, a freezer, a dishwasher, storage for equipment, and a restroom are needed.
